cannot install Adobe Reader XI

by end of installation, shows following message:

 

error 1406, not wirte value content type key \ .fdf.  verify have sufficent access key, or contact support personnel.

 

i check adobe support page error 1406, seems helpless.

 

can me?

 

i asked question several days ago failing uninstall reader 8 (there no remove icon in add/remove program it).  gentlemen answered question , suggest use adobe cleaner uninstall. doesn't work.

these both sound connected, , problem registry.

 

best reply other discussion details failing uninstall, gets confusing if discussions jump around between different messages.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
