i've got mysql connector/odbc 5.1 installed on windows vista laptop. have mysql 5.5.19 installed on laptop, , able connect via windows data source administrator app , mysql connector/odbc using tcp/ip connection 'localhost'. connect mysql database both via command-line client , via m$ access , excel. have virtualbox installed lamp server running on host-only network. can connect lamp server via cmd.exe, putty, firefox, etc. i've modified mysql configuration on lamp server accept connections other (its) localhost, , can connect across (virtual) network via mysql command line client. can't seem create odbc connection mysql database on lamp server host pc. specifically, when type in ip address lamp server on host-only network '192.168.56.101' , click 'test', error message connector couldn't establish connection '192.168.56.1'... i'm not sure why dropping last couple digits of ip address... ideas how around...

sorry bizarre title, i"m not sure how whole connection between smart objects supposed work...  photoshop thing, bridge thing, or lightroom thing?   i have raw image in lightrom...  make adjustments.  open in photoshop smart object.  add layers, fiddle, normal photoshop stuff.   then realize goofed on original raw in lightroom , had sharpened before went photoshop.    so, open raw photoshop, of course, opens in bridge, not lightroom, , fix sharpening.  photoshop finish fiddling , save .psd file.   except, near can tell, have raw file in lightroom doesn't know changes have been made.    and, since haven't written metadata raw file on disk, have file in lightroom doesn't match what's on disk, .psd file doesn't match raw file that's in lightroom, and changes made in bridge don't seem anywhere...   how make sure raw file in lightroom stays up-to-date what's being used starting image in photoshop?  , how lightroom updated w...

folks please - newb major headache @ hand (perfect storm situation ). have 3 1tb hdd on ubuntu 11.04 configured software raid 5. data had been copied weekly onto separate off computer hard drive until failed. few days had power outage , after rebooting box wouldn't mount raid. in infinite wisdom entered mdadm --create -f... command instead of mdadm --assemble , didn't notice travesty had done until after. started array degraded , proceeded building took ~10 hours. after saw that array , running raid not mean individual drives partitioned (partition type f8 ) md0 device not. realizing in horror have done trying find solutions. pray --create didn't overwrite entire content of hard drivers... please me out - data that's on drive important , unique . possible specifying participating hard drives in wrong order can make mdadm overwrite them? when mdadm --examine --scan array /dev/md/0 metadata=1.2 uuid=f1b4084a:720...

hello have installed ubuntu on old computer in past installation not problem me. problem is, no matter use (usb, dvd, wubi) point on screen says ubuntu, go pixelated , wont continue. strange since can install debian or opensuse not ubuntu. specs are: intel core 2 duo e7600 4 gigs of ram ddr2 nvidia geforce gt 240 (im using dvi not hdmi) motherboard bios updated (3/11/2011) record use 64-bit operating systems, tryed 64-bit version of ubuntu, dont know wubi trys install results same. post more information if needed. thanks! this thread may you: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1613132 guessing need nvidia driver installed can installed after ubuntu has been installed , booted need change @ grub boot time load ubuntu basic video setting , install nvidia driver. guess. using nvidia geforce gt 220. , there drivers it. so, able things working through additional drivers once past problem. see link....

hi all, i've got serious problem ubuntu 11.10 running on dell optiplex 990 machine. whatever do, system randomly stops. imagine working on shell , randomly you won't prompt. or while typing system stops , won't return prompt if ctrl+c'ed. got hardware tested. everythings fine. memory, system (bios , on, dell has pre-check-tool), harddisk (smartctl health tests pass , on) , network (fine!) ... , problems remains if have no gui , pure shell. system clock seems stop randomly, kernelparameters noapic, nolapic doesn't help. although network finely working, when ping machine you've got package loss of 20%, caused system stop randomly. (e.g. 20 pings out, 10 pings missing, 10 pings out, 40 pings missing) magic sysrq key seems work, not make out of messages. don't know check now. maybe you've got suggestions ... i'd appreciate hints. did system log files after stops? machi...

i had hoped installing ubuntu server new system able have file server on home network. however, not appear case. need simple file server home network , keep running same issue. can see ubuntu server, keep getting error message not have permission access it. have been through guides setting samba , none of actions have helped. doesn't when of instructions outdated , paths specify no longer exist. example: sudo /etc/init.d/samba restart directory not exist. directory executable samba in now? after setting workgroup , netbios name did system reboot instead. windows xp can see server. windows 7 doesn't list it. need do? if want copy on smb.conf, take while since have manually copy it. posted andeshelp i had hoped installing ubuntu server new system able have file server on home network. however...
