i typically use lr4 (currently 4.4) scan folder using "synchronize folder".  have been doing months, , worked advertised, adding new photos , removing deleted ones.   however, lately after scan, , dialog correctly states number of new photos, after import completes fraction of images have imported.  need repeat process them all.   this makes no sense.   in other words: -- add 25 jpg files folder -- select folder in lr library , choose "synchronize folder" -- dialog says 25 new images, click "synchronize" button -- after progress completes, there 7 photos added   any ideas? so had time , installed new hard drive bought couple of months ago. hi there, quite new ubuntu/ linux systems. give try, have set virtual machines ubuntu (and other linux-) systems testing. testing in virtualbox. have 2 ubuntu systems installed (both version 11.10). have created additional harddisk share files , folders between 2 systems (well... guess...). have run first system, mounted additional harddisk , put testfolder on testfile. did shut down system , started second system, mounted additional harddisk there see file had put there first system... there nothing. put testfiles additional harddisk second system , shut 1 down well. started first system again, mount drive see... nothing. quite astonished , tried mount entire second system first. did work , can access files of second sys when starting first one, there still files missing. assume general problem... perhaps permissions? if that, have set permissions read , write (and applied childs) additional harddisk, seemed not change anything. executed nautilus root...

going forward, i'm sure issue solved workflow change, now, have small problem:   i shoot ton of images (20,000+ per year) , process in lightroom. have workflow export .cr2 originals dng archiving external drive, free space on local drive. once they're copied over, delete folders mac's hard drive via finder, leaves previews still searchable within lightroom. great searching , referencing archived stuff don't need re-edit.   however, when need re-edit something, once copy folder exernal drive original location on local hd editing in lr, lightroom doesn't recognize files automatically since have different file extension. must click each thumbnail's question mark , point file in question. lightroom will not apply same action nearby photos.   any thoughts on how speed rather addressing each image, one-by-one?   thanks in advance insight. i have photos took years ago, , took more, on same film, not realizing had photos on frames, resulting in double exposures.  want keep both sets of photos - 2 different locations, light scenes, darker, of people , objects.  how can best correct these?  have adobe pkhotoshop elements 9, believe is. a double exposure flattened layered composite single raster layer.  not easy task separate composite 2 separate layers , not going find general solution solution depend on double exposure contents , willing bet  difficult maybe impossible separate. hi, situation following: - i've been using ubuntu 2 years , know how easy stuff using shell, i'm no expert - on computer (ubuntu 11.10) there 1 superuser account , home folder located on separate partition , encrypted (setup installer) - changed ~/.pam_environment must have messed because since haven't been able log in - when try log in message box appears following message: "could not connect session bus: //bin/dbus_launch terminated abnormally without error message" (from found on google means $path variable messed , make sense me changing ~/.pam_environment file) think i'll have empty ~/.pam_environmentand should work. unfortunatelly not know how this. if had super user account on computer i'd log in , try mount home partition. have guest login , root shell when start in recovery mode. can please point me in right direction solve problem. best regards, kevka just wanted p...
