How can I make a button "react"?

this super silly question, know how is, sit on answer , still can't find it... how can make button react click? want simple effect of button changing colors or looking user pushed it. right it's same old plain button, no matter if click or not, can't tell difference. how can give "pushing button" effect? guys!

hi there,

 

click on windows > effects, add tab (effects pod) in adjacent timeline.

 

now check timing of button, in properties, if pauses after 1.5 secs example, select button, select effects pod , apply effect (color effect - tint fromto) should start 1.6 sec (effect panel has timeline object).

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
