Table will not align in text box on next page

i creating table thread onto text box on next page.   in past, no problem - once sized text box correctly, table aligned it.   however, today, when thread text box next page, table not aligning text box.    left margin of table off edge of text box.    in addition, columns , rows vanishing.   text box on next page same size 1 on previous page, can't figure out why table align in same location 1 on previous page.  driving me insane , have tight deadline.

any suggestions?  i'm using indesign 5.5 on windows 8.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
