Thread: Could not connect to wicd's D-Bus interface

i new ubuntu , haven't had problems internet connection via wireless until plugged friend's wired internet computer. connected while , when rebooted computer asked type in password has never been needed start computer. when went open wicd network asked password also/ show icon in dock if it's opening disappear.

message is: could not connect wicd's d-bus interface. check wicd log error messages.

looked how check wicd log when got var/log/wicd folder icon had "x" on , folder empty.

read forum said check etc/init.d/wicd

, forum had proper scripts replace with. when tried put correct scripts in got message:

could not save file /etc/init.d/wicd. not have permissions necessary save file. please check typed location correctly , try again.

tried going "/etc/wicd/wired-settings.conf" when manager-settings.conf has "x", wired-settings.conf has "x" , wireless-settings.conf has "x" on them , cannot opened.

know how fix problem? extremely new ubuntu , confused.

i think solution should pretty simple- need root user edit system files. edit etc/init.d/wicd open terminal , type

code:
gksu gedit etc/init.d/wicd
it'll ask password.
"gksu" or "sudo" prefix logs in root or administrator user. user profiles in ubuntu not administrators security.
try editing file now, , might trick.
