Thread: hide/protect folder

i saw video in youtube somthing lyk typing "sudo gksu nautilus" in terminal , 1 file browser pops up. involves right click , properties changing owner , group of folder root . video ubuntu 8.10.but when tried same procedure not change owner of folder or other attributes user root. using ubuntu 11.10. proccess different version or becos need softwares or application? or still not supported ? if possible lyk that, please me out.
ubuntu (i'll discarding win7 ultimate soon). great users can each other.though dont know lyk d flexibility of linux ! , learn lot u guys...thank u

you have right idea, need google 'chown' , 'chmod'.

$ sudo nautilus

right click, change owner , mode root only.
