installed ubuntu v. 6.10 when try connect network thru system>administration>networking, see modem connection listed, have wireless router ethernet connected, following guide book, , suguests use line command if device not connected, not sure how enter command line, , need down load driver or patch? change settings? dhcp, or dns tried enter ip of router no avail.

the command prompt can found under menu @ top left of screen. applications ==> accessories ==> terminal. imagine network card not installed. better latest version of ubuntu. you're 10 versions behind , hardware support has improved in last 5 years.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
