q: how can stop feedback different programs appearing on terminal.

@ moment, whenever try boot, screen filled messages saying

code:
##.########## hub #-#-#-#: over-current condition on port #
where #'s random numbers. first line of #'s time , port seems swap between 2 , 4. happens if try boot onto live cd , open terminal. made me think hardware problem. if have idea how rid of these messages on terminal , during boot please reply

terminal...as in purple box on desktop, or virtual console?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
