Thread: Server Falls Asleep, how to stop it
setup:
whats installed
ubuntu server 11.04
samba
ssh
use no security file share server office. problem im having after 5-10 mins, server sleep mode cant ssh untill click (on windows pc) network share icon (that links samba share on ubuntu server). wont open on first few clicks, starts working again. few mins go , falls "asleep". oh , have 1 account , allow guests connect
have no gui loaded , not want load one, answers must cmd line based.
have tried edit bios power save settings, can change s1 or s3. there nothing in bios times spin stuff down or that. old dell , havent tried pull battery unlock bios.
have tried work right adding acpi=off in grub_cmdline_linux_default line.. didnt work.. tired acpi=force , didnt work either.
if thing never sleeps.
i'm still newbie when comes ubuntu, please gentle.. appriciated..![]()
i've thought putting in cronjob keep server falling asleep. idea or waste of resources???
