Thread: Unity over Xubuntu

i have xubuntu 11.10. today installed 'ubuntu-desktop' package install unity graphical environment. unity 2d working fine 3d not. when log in, hear ubuntu login sound , wallpaper loads few seconds , black screen shown. see still mouse pointer though. ideas?

you not give information hardware in machine. let find out if have video card can run unity 3d. put command in terminal:

another thing, ubuntu 3d uses called compiz window or compositing manager. ubuntu 2d uses metacity. xubuntu uses xfce . may have installed ubuntu-desktop package did include compiz? open software centre , search compiz , confirm compiz installed.
