Trouble installing Flash Player

i using windows vista system, foxfire browser.  have tired several times download lastest version of flash player no success.  keep getting error message "newer version of flash player installed.  based in information in "help" section, uninstalled existing version of flash player.  continue same error message though no version installed.  have turned off security system in case preventing installation.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
