Conditional Buttons?

can buttons in configurator conditional menu items reflect?
for example: if create button character panel menu --> opentype --> discretionary ligatures

in regular indesign menu visible whether feature available selected typeface in text frame, standard configurator button gives no feedback @ all.

can changed, button greyed out or has different text when feature not available? via scripting maybe?

configurator not support @ present. indesign not provide api status of feature.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
