hi everyone, have been using ubuntu few years on , off first time post forums please forgive me if not putting in right thread. have bought myself laptop last year acer8950g ati radeon hd6850m graphics card. week installed ubuntu 11.10 64bit , happy until downloaded , installed latest catalyst drivers broke laptop. when restarting works after configuring dual screens , restarting comes flashing blue,grey,black , blue colors. realize due ati drivers , have had lots of issue ati when windows 7 running on laptop. when installing opensource fglrx drivers picture sits on bottom right of screen says "amd unsupported hardware" why downloaded propriatry hardware. not want load propriatry catalyst drivers if not have there way without making complicated can configure dual screens opensource driver...sorry bit frustrated have start poking around in xorg file. appreciated.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
