Thread: bin folder problems

im trying put unrar in bin folder run every time try thing says im not owner. why?

hi master rob! rookie @ this, i'll take stab anyhow. more knowledgeable can feel fee correct me or provide better explanation.

there numerous bin folders on system (perhaps half dozen?). of "owned" root user or superuser. guessing bin folder using owned "root" - not you.

create bin folder in home folder ie /home/name/bin or ~/bin. logout , log in. system recognize new bin folder place executables (because ~/bin defined path in .bashrc, not exist. have add it.)

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
