Thread: graphic deficiency on my laptop?

hello everyone,

seem have run problem ubuntu on laptop, seems incapable of running (some) games on normal way.

first noticed problem when installed age of empires on pc.. once got working through wine, every change of frame made screen flash weird colors , game unplayably slow, after having tried various tricks ones offered on winehq. though wine problem..

however, once gotten install nexuiz (a fps), way installable on ubuntu, no wine time, game has incredibly slow framerate, on lowest settings possible.

laptop isn't 1 of faster ones, still capable of doing more showing now, i'm guessing ubuntu has trouble using graphics card in pc, unable find drivers make kitten pur.

note games xmoto or warzone 2100 playing smoothly, im guessing put less of strain pc, perhaps cpu strong enough carry burden??

technical info:
laptop toshiba sattelite a200-1k8
2 gib physical memory
genuine intel cpu t2130 @ 1,86 ghz x 2
intel 945gm x86/mmx/sse2 (graphics card)
32 bit os (ubuntu 11.10)

, use gnome3 shell, changing hasn't solved problem.

hope guys (or galls) can help, in advance

i have toshiba laptop similar specs. there no graphics drivers can find either needs not need more graphics power.

check out playonlinux in repositories , on web http://www.playonlinux.com/en/

virtual box, in repositories allows full windows install inside ubuntu. not sure of performance of games can install , run windows programs if have separate windows os. https://www.virtualbox.org/

hope helps.
