Thread: issues installing ubuntu 8.04.1 desktop edition

for reasons, have install old version. using windows xp, , tried install ubuntu 'inside windows' using live cd. did usual extracting, , asked me reboot pc. restarted pc , selected 'ubuntu' desired os. after has follow 7 steps complete installation.

1st step went fine.
2nd step required submit location. selected location , clicked on 'forward' , initializing disk partition dialog box pops up, loads 100%, , after few seconds says couldn't work properly. try again or ignore step. latter might result in broken installation.

next step needed name, username , machine name, password. filled in spaces , clicked on forward, same problem occurred again. had ignore step too.

@ next step there written 'how disk partitioned' in dialog box , nothing else pops up. 'waiting' mouse cursor.

welcome forums, unfortunately 8.04 no longer supported on desktop. recommend starting on fresh download of current release (11.10) or long-term support release (10.04). luck!
