Thread: Ubuntu 11.1 Installed but won't boot

i'm sure has been answered already, i'm tired of searching answer actual questions.

i've installed ubuntu on windows pc (no dual boot, linux).

install process worked without hitch, when try boot, cursor.

i'm guessing grub didn't install properly, there's no terminal access... nothing.

if boot cd, don't have sufficient permissions edit of files other threads have suggested.

do?

re-install , install grub on hard disk (/dev/sda or /dev/sdb) , not on partitions (/dev/sda1, /dev/sdb4, etc).

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
