i unable connect wireless networks says wireless off wireless switch on , don't seem have function key turn on. using hp pavilion, special edition 3 or 4 years old. able connect until upgraded 11.10. told edit conf file blacklist file. hoping know if on track , fixed, , how go this?

can open terminal , type in

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
