Thread: What's installed in 11.10

i asked other day what's running, , worked indeed.

know what's installed. how can find out installed?

reason question seem have problem adobe acrobat reader.
able install directly adobe while back, since 2 days pull down menus did not show text anymore.

thought simple thoughts, , tried re-install.
used version available @ ubuntu software, under name acroread, thinking faulty version replaced, , remain happy camper.

arrggggh .

turns out under "dash home" there 2, yes 2, icons showing "acrobat reader 9" installed. 1 icon working, other not.

removed acroread, tried remove .bin install version adobe, did not work anymore.
tried re-install .bin version abode. not work either.
re-installed acroread, because need acrobat, 2 icons present.

can not find icons located, more importantly, not know if there residual files left, , how rid of them.

can please guide me in right direction.

thx,

dream

to remove completely, use:
sudo apt-get --purge remove <package>

version in software center package name acroread. not sure 1 installed .bin. also, if needed extract downloaded file, in folder extracted there might uninstall script.
