DNG image quality in iPhoto
i have acquired zeiss photoscope (in effect, spotting scope integrated camera) records raw images either jpg or dng files or both. (i'm birdwatcher likes take photos of them, not photographer first , foremost). when view images in iphoto 9.2, highest quality jpg files far superior dng files, though jpgs 2 mb while dngs 14 mb. dngs pixellated @ low iso settings (50 or 100), while jpg images appear sharp , show pixellation when blown digitally in iphoto.
in cases, see evidence of chromatic aberration in dng images less evident in jpg files, too.
is there way dng files work iphoto causes this? there recommended software looking @ dng files might eliminate problem? other ideas how resolve this?
even ardent mac fanatic since 1984, have tell iphoto unmitigated piece of cr@p when comes image quality, though has hand-holding features make attractive photo amateurs.
the raw conversion, whether straight raw file or raw dng file, far superior if view them after converting/rendering them in adobe software, either lightroom or adobe camera raw. latter, free plug-in, can hosted either (very expensive) full version of photoshop, or relatively inexpensive ($99.99) photoshop elements, although when hosted photoshop elements offers subset of controls, adjustments , functionality of same plug-in when hosted full version of photoshop.
