My footage does not show up unless I click on it to

i cannot footage show in main window unless click inside of main window. when let go image disappears. cannot grade way. problem? me or software.?

can give details:

- grading

- panscan

- source footage (file format, resolution etc.)

- sg version

- os

etc.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
