Thread: 11.10 Weird browser networking problem, please help!

i'm getting pretty fed this, , still have not figured out going on here. first, details:

ubuntu 11.10 system. wired network connection.

can provide more specifics system needed.

network connection works flawlessly, except in specific case: periodically, when try use web (in either firefox or google chrome), web browser looses ability communicate particular site (i'm not if dns issue or not -- i've used check dns ability seems check out fine). instance, can go google, when try search on it, nothing happens.... , once 1 of browsers.... stays until reboot computer (simply disconnecting/reconnecting network connection nothing). weirder thing is... if did on firefox, went chrome, *can* connect google, , search results there, chrome looses connectivity google (and chrome without google connectivity not helpful browser).

same thing happens if use elinks or lynx or other browser (opera, etc.) eventually, internet becomes real small place on computer until reboot it. curiously enough, site might usable again little while, , goes being unable accessed @ all. browser gets stuck on "sending request..." or other similar statements doesn't seem response server i'm trying communicate with... session times out.

*do* have home network going through dd-wrt-based router, , have http traffic being sent through squid3 (with squidguard) proxy... no other device or computer on home network has problem... ubuntu desktop.

have tried watching connections etherape no success, network connection appears flawless, yet computer seems incapable of contacting server, whenever server has been contacted lot of times (like google servers, or facebook, etc.). appears triggered whenever submitting response server (like submitting search term google, or trying log facebook), , once happens, server in question might not exist... requests sent computer server seem disappear, , no response ever given server itself.

appreciated.

hi,
have tried changing dns server? maybe can use opendns ones (208.67.222.222 , 208.67.220.220)...

also: sure problem *only* sites? mean: if cannot connect google, instance, did tried site?

regards,
