Thread: Desktop Enviroment wont load, black screen

"i have dell inspiron 2500, had windows me on , ran fine. upgraded ram 64mb 192mb ran faster wanted linux tried boot xubuntu live cd went black screen , didnt change when left few hours. installed xubuntu via alternate install cd , install went fine, when booted it went black screen , "x" (like cursor)showed second. can terminal pressing alt+f2 , login. dont have high speed internet @ home im going try install lubuntu when home. think might graphics issue dont know start."

"today tried install lubuntu same thing happened. want install mythbuntu know have upgrade ram want make sure can *buntu install."

said think graphics issue. have installed xubuntu on dell latitude 128mb of ram slow worked. thanks!

p.s. kind of new fourms think there way move thread dont know how.

i can confirm saw same behaviour on old hardware less 192 ram , related bad graphic cards. however, did not solve issue myself, dropped it...

question whether possible resolve @ (without making major changes ubuntu).

maybe debian 3 sarge work better?
