Thread: Gnome 3 ATI graphics driver issues.

whenever install newer linux distro new gnome 3 desktop, windows move smooth. when install graphics driver 'additional drivers' windows become choppy when move them. try remove drivers again doesn't activated, though activated them. not able uninstall them , when try getting proprietary drivers off ati website, computer wont boot once install them , im forced reinstall ubuntu or other gnome 3 os.

problem not occur in gnome2 desktop such ubuntu10.10

ideas? occur else too, or should stick older gnome2 desktop operating systems?


use ati hd 5770 graphics card.

to find out driver used /var/log/xorg.0.log. here says drivers have been tried , whether there have been errors during driver activation or not.
may ask why want install proprietary drivers when open source drivers seem work?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
