Thread: Kubuntu desktop icons?

sorry, know subject must have come before, haven't been able find clear answer on this.

full disclosure -- unity refugee coming ubuntu 10.4 kubuntu 11.10 largely pretty impressed with.

however, can't understand how "desktop" supposed work. dragged files documents folder "desktop" folder in home folder, these not appear on (actual?) desktop. best can drag desktop folder desktop, whereupon becomes folder titled "desktop", on desktop.

if right-click on desktop (not folder on desktop), desktop settings option, allows me change background image.

"desktop" folder, background image, or see on computer when @ it? how can put things on it, can use top of desk?

does nobody in fact know answer this?

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
