Thread: no apps in dash

hello everyone,
i'm facing following problem.

of sudden (maybe after installing synaptics, not sure), apps in dash (ubuntu 11.10) have disappeared (click on dash, "media apps" -> nothing).
besides, in order launch software center, have type in terminal "sudo software-center" (without sudo doesn't work) , not click on left icons bar.
appreciate every advice.

try alt f2, enter command "unity --reset" , see if fixes issue. doubt installing synaptic had it, unity settings messed up. hopefully, reset things default , can go there.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
