Thread: nvidia fullscreen aspect ratio

hi,

i'm trying change screen settings 4:3 content in fullscreen on widescreen monitor displayed such (with black bars on sides) instead of being stretched cover whole screen.
i'm using nvidia card , appears there's setting supposed that. unfortunately, haven't been able work.
i've added option "flatpanelproperties" "scaling = aspect-scaled" screen section of xorg.conf; didn't anything. found out option appears bugged in newer versions of nvidia driver, replaced current 1 173; still doesn't work. i've tried using nvidia-settings set option, current version of nvidia-settings gives error when try view screen settings.
far know monitor doesn't have settings regarding this.

have idea work? appreciated.

aspect ratio dependant on app being used. set screen resolution like. in video player vlc, can right click video (while it's playing) , set aspect ratio 4:3 or whatever like.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
