Thread: Question about cloud computing

hi, i'm new ubuntu , want learn cloud computing. have googled how setup private cloud. think using ubuntu server uec. before setup real system. clarify cloud.

of time have been using windows application such msoffice, our erp system run on windows. able run these application on cloud? read setup guide. need @ least 2 machines. 1st cloud controller. 2nd vm node.
vm nodes have run ubuntu , use virtual box run windows only? or can use windows os machince connect vm node?

in case, have use virtual box run windows. reduce performance of system? if yes, there other alternatives(for free, it's learning purpose)?

from experience not idea use virtual box in enterprise environment.

dont know uec, guy @ work played around , got 5 old servers running cloud services. yeh ubuntu has used actual "host" os on each of machines hardware. far understand vm's can other os's (i may wrong here, check him tomorrow).

quite familar esxi vmware. debian based host, , uses vmotion server balancing, need buy license run longer 30 days.

wouldn't use virtualbox... not oracle products bad.. java , oracle databases great!...

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
