Thread: Razor-qt / openbox 11.10 system from minimal cd?

does have thoughts on installing razor-qt / openbox based system minimal cd? want avoid many kde , gnome bits possible, want use terminator, , need able use usb-modeswitch, guess wicd ruled out networking. need replacement gedit, has of same features, including auto spell checking (11.04 or earlier, no auto spell check in ll.10). kate possibility, not sure how many dependencies drag in. lastly, need mounting of usb storage devices work out of box. issue when installing minimal cd.

i have never worked minimal cd (but did work arch, more minimal ubuntu minimal). can think of following:

  • you need display manager. guess gdm or kdm pull lot of dependencies don't want, try lightdm
  • you don't want use kde apps (such kate or okular), ask lot of dependencies

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
