Thread: Static IP - internet see me, but I cant see internet.

well. i'm using ubuntu. have tried before, fall on windows. have started mess around servers. , ubuntu server in commandline = sexy. have call funny problem.
have installed ubuntu server 11.10, , i'm going set webserver on it. or set up, not configured yet.
problem experiencing when try give server static ip.
ip works, , can access webserver internet checked working letting friend of mine check if got contact it.

havn't got internet connection.
going set , install ftp server. server going download vsftpd. when run sudp apt-get install vsftpd, this

also can ping on network, can't ping internet.. @ least don't answers.

so.. got clue wrong? don't , havn't touched ubuntu year @ least!

1) check /etc/resolv.conf have name servers (dns) (refer configuring dns)
2) gateway 192.168.1.1, if has firewall ubuntu server allowed access thru
