Thread: Ubuntu 11.10 freeze hang-up

i having issue long time laptop.
after time after fresh restart (on 2nd, 3rd day) system periodically hangs up.
not respond mouse or keyboard, timer (with seconds) stops , hard disk in use. may take 20 seconds several minutes system start being usable again.

well, came conclusion not swap (i have disabled it), , has lot of free memory (800mb+ confirmed "free"). using dstat, , iotop troubleshooting.

able record iotop output durung freeze.
max read: total disk read: 6.91 m/s
max write: total disk read: 6.91 m/s

if i/o makes system freeze?
or root cause of issue?

possible avoid these freezes?

may important thing, put laptop on "suspend" couple times per day. after fresh restart same applications running system work fine -- no freezes (till next "suspend")

i experiencing this. occurs multiple times day , have tried can think of. saw link on thread earlier , happening in case:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...ux/+bug/908335
