Does your search results return topics with the keyword 'late'?

i've read few posts issues searching smaller (3-4 letter) keywords, unable connect information in issue i'm experiencing.  have found when search keyword 'late' (without using quotes in rh search box), 1 of 2 things happens:  1) search "spins" saying it's searching , no results appear; or 2) returns nothing saying there no topics keyword.  i'm using rh7 , unable topics keyword return.  when test in rh10 (which we're getting ready upgrade to), "no topics found" when not using quotes around term; results when using quotes. 

 

does else have similar experiences searching 'late' in projects?  have suggestions how work around issue short of upgrading , tipping end-users use quotes when searching term?

 

we're using rh7 on windows xp office 2003; , rh10 on windows 7 office 2010.  we're generating webhelp (not pro).

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
