Initial import Histogram Calculating returns bad tones

frequently when  import raw nikon files lightroom 4 see picture tone , white balance like.  during time (2 10 seconds) histogram indicates calculating.  when histogram finished calculating picture changes bad tone (exposure, contrast ...).  can go , manually change tone settings can take sometime , rather able return picture settings presented.  there short cut or easier way?  know what's going on?

lightroom shows jpeg preview computed camera firmware (based on camera settings). after while, replaced lightroom's rendering of raw (based on lightroom's default settings, not camera settings).

 

if don't lr's rendering, change default settings.

 

reminder: lr rendering not take camera settings account. people turn active d-lighting off reason.

 

ps - important setting camera calibration profile.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
