Thread: ATI Radeon x850 failed to load xbmc

my system: ubuntu 11.10, xbmc eden,

replaced failed nvidia card relatively newer ati radeon x850 pro 256mb video card. fine before nvidia card died, put in ati card, can't load xbmc anymore. it's giving me error "xbmc needs hardware accelerated opengl rendering. install appropriate graphic driver."

have searched many forums , sites, tried purged fglrx following link.
tried installed driver ati @ link , gives me error because supports 9.04.
running out of ideas.

you may end making trip best buy, i'm afraid. that's legacy card takes legacy driver won't work recent versions of x server. doubt ever supported opengl. that's way old card before amd bought ati. linux not on ati's radar. neither driver support in general.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
