Thread: Can I use 11.04 for ever? Will I be safe after a while?

i version ubuntu 11.04. dont want unity. dont want kubuntu or else. can use 2-3 more years?

in wikipedia says support end in october '12. after day, system unsafe?

with linux problems not big when remains without support windows, miss out on lot of software too. have chase latest versions , install yourself.

if don't unity there option use gnome 3. little bit different gnome 2 it's 1 option. think need install gnome 3 once, , after @ login screen can select whether want enter unity or gnome. it's separate different users. 1 user can use unity , other gnome, doesn't need same all.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
