Thread: Gnome/Unity Freezes on 11.10

so upgraded 11.10 11.04.
when log account using unity or gnome classic, computer becomes slow (slow drag of windows etc) , freezes (within few minutes).
freezes, mean can still move mouse pointer around , see caps lock light come on keyboard. can't click on , can't crtl-alt-delete or of sort. unable click or anything, have hard reset desktop out of situation.
able use openbox or kde without problems.

saw posts saying there may problems upgrading 11.04 11.10. booted using 11.10 livecd , since boots directly unity, face exact same issue!

appreciated else i'll have go 11.04 .

if ready format again computer, give try kernel 3.2 still on rc status (unstable). give try before going 11.04.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
