Thread: If I install Ubuntu over an Ubuntu based distro, will my home folder stay intact?

i wondering if installed ubuntu on ubuntu based linux mint , entered same computer name, username, password, etc. used in previous installation @ installation prompt, home folder remain intact?

probably not.

i'm sure there's way can save current home directory folder on cd (for example) , paste after installing new linux distro.

i'm not sure if different flavors of linux work though. though mint , ubuntu both debian based, think remember reading somewhere still don't blend when mixed together.
