Thread: Sound Issues

okay, here's i've got. ubuntu 11.04 (natty narwhal), on acer aspireone aoa150 nebook designed run windows xp, though in recent years gave xp retirement deserved , went ubuntu ultimately. upon initial installation, sound worked flawlessly. however, past 6 months, or so, have had no sound @ all. have messed around alsa in terminal, , when unload or reload this,

kinghiram@thetemple:~$ sudo alsa force-unload
sudo: unable resolve host thetemple
[sudo] password kinghiram:
lsof: warning: can't stat() fuse.gvfs-fuse-daemon file system /home/kinghiram/.gvfs
output information may incomplete.
lsof: warning: can't stat() fuse.gvfs-fuse-daemon file system /home/kinghiram/.gvfs
output information may incomplete.
unloading alsa sound driver modules: (none loaded).
this happens when "sudo alsa force-reload"
kinghiram@thetemple:~$ sudo alsa force-reload
sudo: unable resolve host thetemple
[sudo] password kinghiram:
lsof: warning: can't stat() fuse.gvfs-fuse-daemon file system /home/kinghiram/.gvfs
output information may incomplete.
lsof: warning: can't stat() fuse.gvfs-fuse-daemon file system /home/kinghiram/.gvfs
output information may incomplete.
unloading alsa sound driver modules: (none loaded).
loading alsa sound driver modules: (none reload).
what's problem? speakers in excellent condition, there shouldn't problem hardware. if there were, have other speakers can plug output jack on right-hand side of netbook, though tried that, apparently jacks don't work, either.
