Thread: Sound works, but sounds "wrong" in any version after 10.04

title says all. have been using ubuntu 10.04 since came out , upgrade more modern, no recent distros handle music right. imagine it's problem pulseaudio that's guess. once found howto switch pulseaudio alsa, , worked left me no volume control.

clear, problem not lack of sound, or hisses, pops, or stuttering sound. sound "hollow" or "muted", messing bass , treble controls. it's disconcerting when 10.04 sounded crystal clear out of box.

have lubuntu 11.04 installed on hp pavilion dv7 laptop , can around sound quality issue using music player equalizer such vlc, fix problem system-wide.
