hey. had quick question. i'm new ubuntu had experienced friend set me. way looks , runs, since don't have greatest computer in world...

see, problem i'm having want install of newer updates don't know each 1 does. don't want install guis , such make mac because it's kind of unnecessary , don't want stupid little programs slow down system ones came standard on windows.

don't know enough of how ubuntu works of yet search through each update , choose ones want wondering... if install important , recommended updates, effect "ubuntu classic (no effects)" option @ log-in screen? because if not easier me switch ubuntu classic after install updates.

many in advance.

updates that, 'update' of have installed. won't pull down don't have using update manager, unless have changed repositories (you haven't). feel free update, won't harm setup.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
