Thread: Virtualbox Help

i have computer dual booting ubuntu 11.10 x64 , windows 7 32 bit. want switch on ubuntu full time, want keep windows around using virtualbox. have created .vhd file using disk2vhd , saved on external usb hard drive (the file big store on either file system @ moment, used external drive). booted ubuntu , created vm in virtualbox using .vhd file. when start it, prompts me standard windows "press f12 select boot device" , problem shows up. prompts this:
code:
error: unknown filesystem. grub rescue>
i've done googling , found grub rescue page on ubuntu site (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/gr....27.29_booting) nothing try works. command seems work ls , set (though haven't tried of them).

created .vhd file both system resource partition (before c:\ in disk2vhd) , without same results.

there way can fix this? don't see grub being needed vm since it's windows vm, perhaps way of removing grub , restoring windows boot loader? either or try fix grub recognizes file system.

still have windows 7 partition , boots fine, haven't lost data in case need recreate .vhd file or else on windows.

i still haven't figured out solutions this. use insight.
