hi
have windows computer, expensive hardware play games, programs etc, expensive programs use photoshop, illustrator autodesk programs, game engine programs unity3d, , play games gta4, call of duty series, battlefield etc, love ubuntu, dont use because dont know if can use programs , games on linux.
if install wine performance of programs wine run same running programs on windows?
tell me , if can use programs etc, searched little have doubts.

unfortunately, wine (wine not emulator) not windows. there performance differences between 2 have been improved upon on last decade. many games can work on wine wouldn't have done few years ago. others still won't run, , newer games many times won't run under wine. being said, can more information winehq.org , through database list of apps work, work-arounds required them work, , other progress information.

gaming 1 area still lags in linux-based systems, improving.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings.
