Thread: Xorg starting with corrupted screen, then restarts on first login

i've got bit of puzzler here. i'm running xubuntu 11.10 packages up-to-date. when boot system, login screen comes corruption on it, can seen here (link).

seem sort of text area intruding on framebuffer, changes when type, can see change in image after i've typed random characters, seen here (link).

when login first time, x-server restarts immediately, not showing desktop, taking me login screen, lets me log in normally.

xorg log shows no errors when starting (i can post if like), , haven't tweaked xorg.conf @ all, i'll reproduce here anyways:

does have hints might causing or how go trying debug it?

edit: seems if use display manager other lightdm problem goes away, curious.
