LR 4.3: How to Save *Existing* Tiff's with Zip Compression

dear all,

-i'm using lr 4.3 on windows 7 x64 pc.

-i use 1 catalogue each wedding/event/shoot.

-i import images cr2 or dng , work these files in lr , photoshop cs6.

-once complete edits on wedding, i'm left , example, 300 16-bit uncompressed tiff images in around dozen different folders (i shoot big 600 pax + weddings sometimes).

-i want to: re-save/overwrite these images 8-bit tiff images zip compression.

how can this?

-i've tried selecting images , exporting them 8 bit zip tiffs overwrite originals without warning tab selected. error file exists , lr can nothing this.

-i've tried creating action in photoshop poses 2 problems: 1) photos spread on multiple folders , selecting each 1 through file>batch>automate means process requires manual intervention reselect next folder's tiffs - want hit action, go eat lunch , come find them saved. 2) action acts outside of lr , i'd rather avoid 'metadata has been changed externally' errors although isn't of biggie.

why not save images zip tiffs begin with? use number of freelance retouchers , many of whom complain process of compressing slows initial workflow (slower hardware).

i'd grateful ideas.

(and yes - space saved considerable, live memory still not quite cheap!)

many in advance....

since there have been no replies, yet, suspect no easy solutions, if provide more details, perhaps can come make things little more streamlined, haven’t thought of.

what relationship of multiple folders single wedding?  these folders under parent folder single wedding, or photos multiple weddings in each of multiple folders?  “include subfolders” option photoshop automate batch processing panel.

what workflow complicated example, starting raw file camera memory card until you’re done , want create smaller zip-compressed 8-bit tif out of uncompressed 16-bit tif:  steps , folders go , move between throughout process?

are tifs photoshop re-imported lr, , if so, re-adjusted in lr, again?   if happens tif in lr after imported lr, lr cannot program creates 8-bit archive copy replace 16-bit working copy, because pixel values not same (other being truncated 8-bits 16-bits) applying lr’s metadata adjustments wouldn’t equivalent.   external lr needs program converts 16-bits 8-bits.

are retouchers working in lr, ps and/or else?
