Thread: compiz ceased to load automatically... ??

hi.
use ubuntu 11.10 few months now, , worked fine, until today. didn't shutdown badly system, neither installed strange , neither downloaded new packages yesterday... when booted system morning, wrong, , think problem in loading of desktop envinronment. goes fine login, , seems fine desktop, too... opened firefox throught gnome-do, , when tried maximize window double-clicking on top bar, ff crashed , closed him-self. repeated every time tried it, , noticed in every window top bar (the 1 close-maximize-minimize buttons) had disappeared. more: when start nautilus, interface load fine (without top bar) if try focus whole system freeze: i'm not able in way use nautilus, , use other programs (such terminal, or open shutdown prompt) have wait long time.
thing noticed change-desktop icon on right-bottom corner strangely switched 1 single desktop 6 used... well, strager that: in icon see single desktop, dimension have if there 6 on 2 row of them... , when try switch between desktops, find out there 4 desktop avaiable :s.
partially solved mess starting manually in terminal "compiz" in background, using "$compiz &". restore top-bars , can use nautilus , normally, still doesn't fix desktops thing described above. 1 more thing "switching animation" (i don't know how called) appear when switching between desktops using ctrl-alt-{arrows} changed... more "animated". in fact, more similar 1 appear when changing desktops in unity (while i'm doing throught gnome).
fix temporary though, must manually start compiz (or whetever command) everytime reboot system, wich pretty annoying.

happened poor ubuntu?? can unconsciously have done him? , especially, how fix this??

edit: wrong: definetly desktop-envinronment-dependent: i'm doing more testing , here more info:
logging "gnome" goes perfectly, nothing slow , nothing seems show problem.
logging "gnome-classic", "gnome-classic (with no effect)" brings problems described above. more info that: different programs behave differently: firefox, can start no problems except top-bar missing, , can drag&drop window without problems (but not double-clicking it, close program without messages or warnings). nautilus can't focus window. terminal can use program (even if abnormally slow), if try drag&drop window system freeze. during "freezing" periods, can't switch desktops or anything; if try ctrl-alt-del shows log-out prompt can't click on buttons; still if wait 60 seconds logs out.
more: think ubuntu going crazy (or maybe me, or both xd)
logging "ubuntu" (which should unity think) brings problems above. also: can't see of "unity-things" until start compiz terminal (and have immediatly, or risk freeze whole system: try drag&drop terminal freezes , can hear fun going crazy, means system breathlessly doing something... think trying bite tail dogs xd). on terminal start compiz receive tons of warning. if try ctrl-c compiz through terminal in started it, (well lot of things, noted one) segmentation fault error, , i'm left nothing background , terminal, in can scroll , down, not write or move window or anything. shortcuts logout don't work anymore. had reboot using tty terminal (yes, shortcuts still work).

think collected enough info erudite guys figure out what's going on... if not tell me more need know!
