Thread: Full disk encryption + encrypted home folder

so, time i've encrypted home folder on private pc, , have been using luks/lvm2 "fully" (all, boot parttion) encrypt other pc, sensitive data on it.

now, want same private pc, wondering having encrypted disk + encrypted home folder have disadvantages?

can gather, more layers have in security, more secure are. point of view, having full disk encryption password x , then, when booted up, there's s encrypted home folder password y.

but, there disadvantages?

as long remember pass phrases no real problem.
remember backup user created data , keep not of pass phrases safe , sound.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
