Thread: gnome-shell, stupid mistake, need help

i have made stupid mistake, following latest gnome-shell ppa on "production" ubuntu installation. 2 lib packages held , decided full upgrade. removed packages ubuntu-desktop , eog. cannot reinstall them without ripping out 50 packages of gnome-shell stuff.

so, stuck in current session until can figure out how resolve this. maybe should let rip out gnome-shell?

need , advice. thanks.

tim
