Thread: Lexmark Optra S printer

i have had trouble installing old lexmark optra s 1650 postscript printer.

on mac os x works because apple has created drivers it. in ubuntu stuck using default driver.

postcript printer capable of loading ppd file. there no ppd files find using google.

did copy ppd mac os x , open alongside default ppd in ubuntu.

had change/modify few lines , saved new file /usr/share/ppd/custom.

installed using cups interface in firefox (http://localhost:631/printers) , pointed @ new ppd.

thing left find printer device icons stored in ubuntu can correct icon in system settings/printing

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
