Thread: New install, boot hang at Checking battery state...

hello guys, first post on here, , first(ish) ubuntu install. did 1 awhile on different machine.

anyhow... on questions.

i'm using hp pavilion dv5 (2074dx) laptop, trying install ubuntu 11.10 64bit. install didn't go entirely smoothly, had blank screen on installation work around, described here: http://journalxtra.com/linuxsanity/u...ation-bug-2532

after install, remove install disc, reboot, , after ubuntu load screen system check list, , stalls every time at: checking battery state...

@ point the check list stops, , possible options know of, terminal, or reboot.

searched issue, , had workaround of installing new video driver through terminal, cannot figure out life of me how install video driver, terminal. card kind of intel hd graphics, , i'm not sure needs done @ point.

i using ubuntu desktop on lucid , keyboard changes british keys american keys, #/£, ~/| , "/@ around. in system->preferences->keyboard menu have set keyboard uk. when log via putty uk keys come out right. there other place more configuration required? /vfclistsguy actually settings should enough.. can try setxkbmap -query see current layout settings. how do I change the e-mail address for my merchant account
